Wyvern School

Outreach - The Smile Centre

Outreach at Wyvern School provides a comprehensive, multi-inclusive support service designed to assist mainstream schools, Wyvern staff, and parents. Our aim is to promote the inclusion and progress of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN) through personalised guidance, resources, and specialised teaching strategies.

 What We Offer

Our outreach program offers tailored support for mainstream schools and specialist settings, helping staff develop effective differentiation strategies for SEN pupils. This service is accessible through LIFT (Local Inclusion Forum Team) meetings, which allow schools to request an initial observation. Based on this observation, our team collaborates with teachers and support staff to provide specific strategies, adapt the curriculum if necessary, and model best practices to ensure every pupil has the opportunity to succeed in their learning environment.

 For Mainstream Teachers and Staff

Wyvern School invites mainstream teachers and support staff to visit the school and access a wealth of resources and advice. Our dedicated team is available to offer insights on adapting teaching approaches, using specialist resources, and creating an inclusive classroom environment.

 Reception In-Reach Program

The Wyvern School also runs a specialized Reception In-Reach Program for reception age pupils with high levels of SEN in local mainstream schools. This program offers pupils a day in a specialist setting, allowing them to benefit from:

  • Collaborative Learning:Pupils work with a specialist teacher and experience tailored strategies that cater to their unique needs.
  • Specialist Resources:Access to resources such as sensory rooms and soft play areas.
  • Skill Development:Teachers and support staff work together to develop best practices, using solution-focused approaches to meet each child’s needs.

This program is available to children across the Ashford district identified with the highest level of need in cognitive and learning areas, and is regularly reviewed to ensure it meets pupils’ needs effectively.
